Due to the multidisciplinary nature of the project, FLEXHYBAT consists of two coordinated sub-projects, in which field experts from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and Universidad de Oviedo work together to achieve the project’s objectives.

A leading public university located in Catalonia, UPC has been ranked the best university in Spain for civil and structural engineering. It has over 150 research groups that carry out multidisciplinary scientific and technical activities that have been acknowledged for their excellence and high social and economic impact.

In FLEXHYBAT, UPC has the role of project coordinator, for which it has experience from previous EU and national projects.

Two UPC research centres take part in FLEXHYBAT: Centre for Industrial Diagnostics and Fluid Dynamics (CDIF) and Energy Processing and Integrated Circuits (EPIC).

CDIF is a R&D centre that carries out research in the fields of turbomachinery vibrations, diagnosis and preventive maintenance, damage detection and fluid dynamics, with a focus on hydropower.
CDIF leads FLEXHYBAT’s work packages 1, 4, 7, 9, 12 and 13.

EPIC’s research activity focuses on energy processing and integrated circuits, encompassing CMOS technologies for future-generation multicore processors and RF transmitters, and devices for exploring ultimate energy density limits.
EPIC leads FLEXHYBAT’s work packages 3, 6 and 11.

An awarded Campus of International Excellence with more than 400 years of history in Asturias, UNIOVI carries out 80% of regional R&D&I and has around 500 research projects, contracts agreements with companies to develop research and knowledge transfer projects every year. Over 170 accredited groups, with an increasing presence of women in their management, are dedicated to research at UNIOVI.

In FLEXHYBAT, the LEMUR team participates in developing the project’s methodology and action.

LEMUR is a multidisciplinary research team that develops technology for electrical energy management, generation and accumulation. Its strength is based on knowledge integration and a holistic view on complex research projects.
LEMUR leads FLEXHYBAT’s work packages 2, 5, 8 and 10.
